Types of AB Experiences

Alternative Breaks has three unique experiences that students may choose from. All AB Experiences are overseen by the Steering Committee and advisers at the Center for Leadership & Service.

AB EXPRESS

Typically a one- to three-day trip within the state of Florida. These trips require no additional fundraising by the group. This is ideal for students who want to complete service in the winter, are applying as part of a student organization/club, or who want a preview of a traditional AB experience.

TRADITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Four- to seven-day trips that are researched, planned, lead and developed by alternative Breaks Site Leaders and their Participants. Trips can be domestic or international, and require additional fundraising from the group in order to budget sites. These experiences are typically held during spring and summer breaks.

HOW DOES FUNDRAISING WORK?

AB provides ample opportunity for students to fundraise. We allow students to reserve spaces on campus to facilitate fundraising events and provide them contacts that can contribute items or grants to help them meet fundraising goals.
